Celebrating Excellence in Education Supporting Farmington Schools
As we all know, Farmington area schools are successful only because of the extrodinary efforts of staff members and the community. To recognize, reward and encourage ongoing support from the community, the Farmington Area Education Foundation established the Partners in Education Awards.
Complete Awards Guidelines
School Volunteer of the Year – This award is given to an individual or family who has shown exemplary commitment to volunteering in Farmington area schools.
Community Partner of the Year - This award is given to a business or civic organization that has shown an ongoing commitment (at least three years) to supporting Farmington Area Public Schools through partnership programs, volunteer time, financial support, or other means.
Distinguished Alumnus/Alumna Award – Awarded to a Farmington High School graduate who has distinguished himself or herself through professional, social or academic achievement, thereby positively representing Farmington Area Schools to the broader community.
Bill Patterson Distinguished Staff Member Award – Given to a District 192 Staff member who has shown exceptional commitment to the Farmington Area Public Schools community, either through service to the district and its schools, or to the community at large. This award was renamed by the Foundation in 2008 to honor former District 192 Community Education Director Bill Patterson, who was the first to receive the award in April 2007. In May 2007, Bill passed away shortly after being diagnosed with leukemia.
Selection Process
The selection committee consists of representatives from and designated by the Farmington Area Education Foundation. The committee will receive nominations and may request presentations or further background information from the nominating person to help make a decision. The selection of award winners will not be influenced by District 192 staff members, except through the nomination process.
Selection Criteria
Nominees will be judged primarily on the significance of their contribution to the Farmington Area Public Schools community.
Considerations of the selection committee will include:
Have the nominee’s achievements helped further the Mission of Farmington Area Public Schools?
Has the nominee positively affected any one or more of the following: program development, staff development, community support, student interest, learning environment or general support of public education?
Has the nominee provided creative leadership in inspiring or motivating others to achieve or contribute to public education?
Has the nominee personally provided a special service or achieved above and beyond what is expected of the typical community member?
Have others recognized the nominee as a positive force for public education in the community and/or the state?
Has the nominee’s work positively reflected the character of Farmington Area Public Schools?
